Lighting Industry Meets at IstanbulLight 2018

11th International IstanbulLight Lighting and Electrical Equipment Fair and Congress ended with high attention from exhibitors and visitors.

Organized by UBM with the strategic partnership of Turkish Lighting Manufacturers Association (AGİD) and Turkish National Committee of Illumination (ATMK), 11th International IstanbulLight Lighting and Electrical Equipment Fair and Congress ended with great participation of industrial representatives. At the fair which hosted both local and global players of the sector, the latest technologies and products were exhibited, and future of the industry and its improvable aspects were addressed in the activities.

Held at Istanbul Expo Center between 19 and 22 September, IstanbulLight fair hosted 230 national and international companies. The fair welcomed 6.341 professional visitors with 850 being international visitors from 78 countries in Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe, Balkans, CIS, and Far East. With the IstanbulLight Lighting Forum, IstanbulLight Lighting Design Summit and Commercial Stage activities organized within the scope of IstanbulLight Fair, agenda topics were discussed by experts to create added value for the sector.

“We shaped the feature of lighting industry together.”

Stating that all stakeholders of the sector had the chance to come together with IstanbulLight 2018 Fair, UBM Turkey IstanbulLight Brand Director Mehmet Dükkancı remarked that speeches that would reinforce the Turkish lighting sector were made in the activities.

Also mentioning that the lighting sector is going through a transformation which takes technology to the forefront both globally and in Turkey, Dükkancı added:

“The technology-based transformation urges well-established companies of the sector to new searches while it marks a period in which new attempts are making an impression. During such a period, IstanbulLight Fair hosted meetings that direct sector’s future. With the IstanbulLight Lighting Forum, IstanbulLight Lighting Design Summit and Commercial Stage activities at IstanbulLight Fair which increased the value it adds with its trade volume, we welcomed significant people both from Turkey and other countries. Meetings during the fair contributed to the development of new trade channels. Moreover, we created a platform where several problems of the sector are discussed and steps are taken to solve them.”

Lighting Forum helped the improvement of legal statute

Organized with the support of AGİD and ATMK at the fair, IstanbulLight Lighting Forum brought the executives of non-governmental organizations in the sector together with executives of several public agencies such as Republic of Turkey Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and Republic of Turkey Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.

IstanbulLight Lighting Forum where domestic product manufacturing, R&D works, energy efficiency and financing were discussed ensured that studies on legal statute was shared with industrial representatives. Forum also gave industrial representatives the opportunity to share opinions and expectations with state executives and paved the way for the discussion of several matters in five sessions for two days.

Inspiring design samples were at the Lighting Design Summit

Local and global project samples left their marks at IstanbulLight Lighting Design Summit. The summit where details of the projects carried out by Turkish lighting designers both in the country and abroad were shared was one of the most attention-grabbing activities of IstanbulLight 2018. Many projects from Galata Tower, Cappadocia Museum to Heydar Aliyev Modern Educational Complex in Baku, Azerbaijan and several projects in various countries in Africa were presented with all their details at IstanbulLight Lighting Design Summit.

Moderated by the founder of PLD Turkey and Ağustos Teknoloji Emre Güneş, IstanbulLight Lighting Design Summit welcomed famous designer Daan Roosegaarde who offer smart urbanization with nature-adaptive and creative solutions and independent Turkish lighting designers Canan Baba, S. Funda Ataylar, Faruk Uyan, Nergiz Arifoğlu, Zeki Kadirbeyoğlu, Korhan Şişman, Dilek Şahin, Ali Berkman, Onur Yiğit, Ömer Selçuk Baz, and Mustafa Seven.

What do lighting designers expect from the sector?

IstanbulLight Lighting Design Summit emphasized the expectations of lighting designers based in Turkey from the sector. It was stated that lighting design is yet to be fully embraced in Turkey and companies are still recognizing it. The benefits and solutions of a good lighting design for companies and public were shown along with important projects presented by the lighting designers at the summit.

Preparations begin for IstanbulLight 2019

Preparations has already begun for IstanbulLight 2019 which will be the international meeting point of the lighting sector again. The fair will bring exhibitors and visitors together under the same roof at Istanbul Expo Center once again between 18 and 21 September 2019.
